2013 Year of the Snake 1/2oz Silver Coin

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with with this stunning 2oz silver coin from The Perth Mint, honouring the 6th animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac.

The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar snake include 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013 and 2025 with those born under the influence of this sign said to be intelligent, graceful, independent, analytical and charming.

Meticulously struck from 99.9% pure silver, the coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

DESIGN

The reverse of the coin depicts a representation of a snake curled around a tree branch. The Chinese character for ‘snake’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Snake’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

The obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century.
