2015 Kookaburra 1oz Silver Coin

A common guest of residential Australian gardens, the kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher species.

Devoted to other family members, kookaburras gather at dusk and dawn to declare territorial boundaries with shrill, cackling laughs. Having first heard the call of the Australian Kookaburra in 1990, investors have been faithful to the iconic silver series for more than three decades.

Each coin is meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in specimen quality.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 500,000 of the 2015 Kookaburra 1oz .999 Silver Bullion Coin.

DESIGN

Within a beaded border, the reverse design of the coin shows a kookaburra bird perched on a tree stump sheltered by leaves, with a fern visible below. In the right field, the P25 privy mark marking the 25th anniversary of the series. The reverse also features the inscriptions “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” and “1OZ. 999 SILVER“. Also featured are the anniversary dates “1990 – 2015“.

The obverse of the coin features the Ian-Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and 1 DOLLAR denomination.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was established in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia.
