Australia’s first Anzac Day took place on 25 April 1916, one year after the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops on Gallipoli.

Symbolic Reverse Design
The coin’s reverse depicts an Australian soldier leaning on his gun with his head bowed in remembrance. The design includes a red poppy, the inscriptions ANZAC DAY 100 YEARS and the enduring words PRIDE RESPECT GRATITUDE, as well as The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2016 year-date, and the monetary denomination, are depicted on the coin’s obverse.
