2019 Year of the Pig 1kg Silver Coin

Celebrate the Year of the Pig with with this stunning 1kg silver coin from The Perth Mint, honouring the 12th animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac.

The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar pig include 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019 with those born under the influence of this sign said to be easy-going, sincere and calm under pressure.

Meticulously struck from 99.99% pure silver, the coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

DESIGN

The reverse depicts an adult pig with four piglets amid stylized foliage. The Chinese character for ‘pig’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Pig’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

The obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was established in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia.
