2025 Australian Kookaburra 1/10oz Gold Coin
The Perth Mint is marking the 35th anniversary of the beloved kookaburra coin series with this new incredible design.
Renowned for its iconic laughing call, the kookaburra is heard across Australia – from the outback to the back yard. And while it may be adept at snatching food from your barbeque or picnic table, the kookaburra enjoys a varied menu in the wild – insects, earthworms, frogs, fish, mice, or even venomous snakes! Grabbing a snake with its large bill, the kookaburra generally bludgeons its prey to death before feeding.
Struck from 1/10oz of 99.99% pure gold, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
No more than 15,000 Australian Kookaburra 2025 1/10oz Gold Bullion Coins will be released.
DESIGN
The coin’s reverse depicts a majestic kookaburra perched on a tree branch, with radiant lines symbolising a sun burst. The reverse also includes the inscription ‘KOOKABURRA 35th ANNIVERSARY’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight, purity and 2025 year-date.
The coin’s obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was established in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia. Its primary purpose was to refine gold mined in the region and to mint gold sovereigns and half sovereigns for use throughout the British Empire.
