The Royal Australian Mint is proud to announce the release of this beautiful 2026 $5 Silver Proof Coin to mark the centenary of the birth of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth’s story is interwoven with Australia’s own. Her historic visit in 1954 captured the nation’s imagination, while her effigy appeared on our decimal coins from 1966, becoming a daily reminder of her enduring presence. Yet it was the Queen’s many passions that revealed the woman behind the Crown. Her wartime service with the Auxiliary Territorial Service reflected a sense of duty instilled from youth, that she carried throughout her reign. Equally, her support for the arts nurtured creativity and cultural expression across the Commonwealth for seven decades. The Queen’s love of horses and corgis is well known, while family remained her greatest treasure as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. All these facets of an extraordinary life have been stunningly captured in this new commemorative coin.

One hundred years after the birth of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we remember not only a Monarch, but a remarkable life of devotion and humanity.

Each coin is struck by the Royal Australian Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver and is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 with a mintage of 5,000.

DESIGN

The coin’s reverse features a beautiful new portrait of the Queen, framed with symbols of her life, passions and reign. The reverse also includes the inscription “CENTENARY OF THE BIRTH OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II”.

The obverse of each coin bears the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III sculpted by Daniel Thorne, as well as the monetary denomination and 2026 year-date.

PRESENTATION

Each coin comes encapsulated inside of a black Royal Australian Mint display case presented in a HM Queen Elizabeth II Centenary of Birth themed shipper with flower imagery. Each coin comes accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
