2023 Australian Emu 1oz .9999 Silver Bullion Coin
Standing up to 1.9 metres tall, the emu is Australia’s largest bird. Males are known to protect their young, driving enemies away by kicking their long, powerful legs, which are also used to propel them across the continent’s dry plains at remarkable speeds up to 50 kilometres an hour.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a maximum mintage of 30,000.
DESIGN
The reverse portrays an adult emu watching over its three young chicks in an arid outback environment. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the 2023 year-date and the coin’s weight and purity are also included in the design.
The obverse of the coin bears the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination
The coin has an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design which is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century.
