2025 $100 Koala 1oz Gold Coin
Australia’s much-loved koala is celebrated in the Royal Australian Mint’s 2025 Koala Series, which includes a $100 Fine Gold Investment Coin in a brilliant uncirculated finish. Featuring a mother and baby koala among a background of eucalyptus leaves, this design is uniquely Australian.
The koala is one of Australia’s most recognised and beloved species, populating much of the eastern states and extending into South Australia, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Although large populations can be found in some states, the species is considered vulnerable in New South Wales.
Koalas have a high specialised diet, eating the leaves of particular eucalyptus plants. The leaves also provide koalas with much of their hydration needs.
Struck by the Royal Australian Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a maximum mintage of 1,000.
DESIGN
The coin’s reverse features a mother and baby koala on a tree branch, surrounded by a striking eucalyptus leaf and gum nut pattern. The reverse also includes the inscriptions “KOALA” as well as the coins weight and fineness.
The obverse of each coin bears the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III sculpted by Daniel Thorne, as well as the monetary denomination and 2025 year-date.
PRESENTATION
Each bullion coin is presented in a protective capsule.
