2026 Britannia 1/4oz Gold Coin
Britannia is one of Britain’s most long-standing symbols, evolving from the time of Roman rule to become a representation of a modern, forward-looking nation.
For 2026, this Britannia bullion coin blends Philip Nathan’s classical design of Britannia with innovative features to redefine security in the bullion market as one of the most visually secure coins in the world. Security features, such as the micro-text ‘DECUS ET TUTAMEN’ that borders the design and translates as ‘an ornament and a safeguard’, enhance Britannia’s strength and beauty in the design.
In the lower left part of the design, below Britannia’s flowing gown, a latent design features a trident to represent her nautical history and as the viewer changes their perspective, the trident becomes a padlock, emphasising the coin’s high level of security. Using a technique called hexurity, the background reflects the movement of waves by incorporating surface animation, and tincture lines highlight fine details such as the Union flag on Britannia’s shield.
DESIGN
The reverse side of the coin features an image of Lady Britannia walking at sunrise, with a trident in one hand and an olive branch and shield in the other. Around the outside of the coin are the words ‘BRITANNIA’, followed by the coin’s year of minting. The coin’s weight as well as the purity of .9999 fine is also located on the outside of the coin.
The obverse of each coin features the portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. Also features the coin’s face value located on the bottom right, and ‘CHARLES III’ located on the bottom left of the coin.
