⚠️Important Notice: Beware of Fake Bullion Invoices and Online Scams
With gold and silver prices hovering at record highs, unfortunately, unscrupulous sellers and bad actors are creating and distributing fake tax invoices from legitimate bullion companies to deceive buyers.
We have been contacted by several sources regarding fraudulent listings on Facebook Marketplace involving gold bullion products.
Please note the invoice attached below bearing our name is completely fake. Creating or distributing false invoices is a criminal offence and carries significant jail time in all Australian states and territories.
How to Avoid Falling for Gold Bullion Scams
1. Buy directly from a trusted and verified bullion dealer
While a “too good to miss” deal on Facebook, eBay or Gumtree might sound tempting, it can easily end up costing you thousands of dollars. Always purchase from a registered bullion dealer with a proven track record and an established business address.
2. Check for official distributor status
Major mints such as The Perth Mint, Royal Australian Mint, Germania Mint, ABC Bullion, and PAMP only supply to vetted, reputable companies.
If a business cannot be verified as an authorised distributor, do not assume they are legitimate.
3. Be cautious an invoice alone is not proof of authenticity
Even a genuine-looking sales receipt can be digitally altered.
The product described may not match the product received, or the bullion itself could have been swapped for a counterfeit.
If purchasing from any third-party or private seller, always have the bullion independently verified by a local precious metal dealer or testing facility.
4. Remember: if it’s too good to be true it usually is
Legitimate bullion is generally never sold below spot price.
Reputable dealers like ourselves pay spot for buybacks, so any listing offering gold or silver well below that value should immediately raise suspicion.
Avoid buying bullion sight unseen or from sellers insisting on payment before dispatch.
✅ Protect Yourself
- Buy only from official and registered distributors
- Verify the seller’s legitimacy with the mint or refiner they claim to represent
- Request serial numbers, assay certificates, or official packaging photos
- Have bullion tested or verified before parting with significant sums of money
- Report any suspicious activity to Scamwatch or your local police
