Ever since Marvin the Martian made his debut in the 1948 short Haredevil Hare, he has been intent on taking over or destroying the Earth – largely because it’s blocking his view of Venus. His actions seem all the more villainous since he is fully aware of the destructive impact of his intentions.
The reverse image, provided by Warner Bros., features expert engraving and multiple finishes in this rendering of Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian. Clad in sneakers, Marvin’s feet are apart to steady himself in a pose that allows the viewer to examine his famous Roman-inspired costume and broom-topped helmet. Always expressive despite few facial features, Marvin’s expression is a quizzical one as he closes one eye to peer up into space using a hand-held telescope.
