Struck from 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, the series comprises a 2oz high relief coin, a 1oz high relief coin, 1/4oz coin and 1/10oz.

Original 2016 Koala Design

Each coin’s reverse depicts an adult koala walking along a branch of a eucalyptus tree. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KOALA, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the 2016 year-date.

The reverse and obverse of the 2oz and the 1oz high relief coins are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.

Australian Legal Tender.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, each coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination on its obverse.

Limited Mintages

The Perth Mint will release no more than 150 2oz high relief coins, 500 1oz high relief coins, 1,000 1/4oz coins and 1,500 1/10oz coins.
