Featuring a stunning proof finish, this commemorative Australia Half Sovereign is inspired by the Sydney Mint’s original half sovereign, and made from 22 carat gold being the traditional purity of all sovereign coins since 1817.
Proof Quality 22 Carat Gold
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 91.67% (22 carat) pure gold in supreme proof quality.
Commemorative Sovereign Design
The commemorative 2017 Australia Half Sovereign portrays St Edwards crown, a laurel wreath and the word AUSTRALIA, historic elements of Leonard Charles Wyon’s original Type I reverse. The modern tribute also includes the inscription PERTH MINT, HALF SOVEREIGN.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2017 year-date.
Limited Mintage
The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,000 of the Australia Half Sovereign 2017 Gold Proof Coin.
Presentation Packaging with Numbered Certificate
