2018 Australian Emu 1oz Gold Coin

Following the sell-out success of the 2018 1oz silver bullion coin portraying the world’s second largest bird, The Perth Mint is pleased to announce its 2019 Australian Emu featuring an appealing new design.

Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Australian Emu 2018 1oz Gold Bullion Coin.

DESIGN

The coin’s reverse portrays the world’s second largest living bird striding across a scrubby landscape. The superb detailing highlights the emus’ shaggy-looking plumage, which helps them survive the extreme changes in temperature that can be experienced in the outback. Also included on the reverse design is the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the weight and fineness as well as the 2018 year-date.

The obverse of the coin bears the Ian-Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the monetary denomination.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was established in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia.
