The Tokelau Chronos series is now entering its 6th annual release cycle. Having originally launched in 2015 as a silver round without legal tender status, Tokelau released the 2019 offering with a $5 NZD denomination. This sixth release bears a legal tender of $6 NZD. The series has maintained the same theme throughout, while the design has undergone significant changes with each release.
The reverse features a clock showing 5 minutes to 12, the face value “6 DOLLARS” prominently displayed at the bottom with “Ag” – the abbreviation for silver (Latin: Argentum) – displayed at the top. To the right is the series title of “Chronos”, all set on an intricate texture.
The obverse features the Effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the middle with the 2020 year-date split on either side. “1OZ FINE SILVER 999” is displayed at the top with “ELIZABETH II – TOKELAU” taking place on the bottom. Underneath the Effigy is a stylized feather in the shape of the infinity symbol, again all set on an intricate texture.
