2021 Australian Nugget – Golden Eagle 2oz .9999 Silver Bullion Piedfort Coin
Named for its remarkable resemblance to a bird of prey in flight, the enormous Golden Eagle nugget was discovered by 17-year-old Jim Larcombe during the Great Depression at a location some 630 kilometres east of Perth. Weighing 1,136 troy ounces, it remains the largest known nugget ever discovered in Western Australia.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a worldwide mintage of 15,000.
DESIGN
Ninety years since it was unearthed, the recognisably bird-like find is celebrated on this stunning 2oz silver coin. As well as a representation of the famous nugget on a background of radial lines, the coin’s reverse includes the inscriptions ‘AUSTRALIAN NUGGET’ and ‘GOLDEN EAGLE 1931’. Also included is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.
The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
Established on 20 June 1899, two years before Australia’s Federation in 1901, The Perth Mint was the last of three Australian colonial branches of the United Kingdom ‘s Royal Mint (after the now-defunct Sydney Mint and Melbourne Mint) intended to refine gold from the gold rushes and to mint gold sovereigns and half-sovereigns for the British Empire. Swan Bullion Company is proud to be an authorised distributor for The Perth Mint’s bullion and numismatic products.
