2021 Mother & Baby Platypus 2oz Silver Coin
We are excited to release this 2oz silver bullion piedfort coin featuring a mother and baby platypus.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a worldwide mintage of 75,000.
DESIGN
The coin’s reverse depicts a platypus swimming with its baby. The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark and radial lines are also included in the design.
The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2021 year-date, the weight and purity, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
Each coin’s reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT
The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was established in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia. I love the presentation of this mysterious animal. Love how they have depicted both mother and baby platypus. Another one of my favourite designs.
