2023 $100 Kangaroo Series 30th Anniversary 1oz ‘C’ Mintmark Gold Proof Coin
The Royal Australian Mint celebrates three decades of the Kangaroo Series with the release of this 2023 $100 Gold Proof Coin, featuring the original 1993 reverse design by Horst Hahne. This iconic design has been included as a celebration of the longevity of the series and the enduring status of its iconic subject.
Over the 30 years, many talented coin designers have created kangaroo coins for the program and the Mint has collaborated with a number of artists including Ken Done and Reg Mombassa as well as renowned Indigenous artists Jeanette Timbery, Mark Nodea and Ray Thomas.
This updated version of the coin features a ‘C’ mintmark to denote Canberra, the place of minting.
The Royal Australian Mint’s kangaroo series is at the core of many numismatic collections ensuring that this 2023 release will be keenly sort after by collectors and investors alike.
Struck by Royal Australian Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a mintage of 1,000.
DESIGN
The reverse features a thirtieth anniversary update of the original 1993 design by Horst Hahne. The reverse also features the inscription “30TH ANNIVERSARY” as well as the coins weight, fineness, monetary denomination and the ‘C’ mintmark.
The coin’s obverse features the memorial effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark as well as the 2023 year-date.
PRESENTATION
Each coin comes encapsulated inside of a Royal Australian Mint wooden box. The wooden box is then packaged inside of a black shipper box with a kangaroo themed sleeve and is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
