2023 30th Anniversary of the Kangaroo Series – Mob of Thirty ‘C’ Mintmark 1oz Silver Proof Coin
The Royal Australian Mint celebrates three decades of the Kangaroo Series with the release of this 2023 $1 Fine Silver Proof Coin, featuring the original 1993 reverse design by Horst Hahne. This iconic design has been included as a celebration of the longevity of the series and the enduring status of its iconic subject.
Over the 30 years, many talented coin designers have created kangaroo coins for the program and the Royal Australian Mint has collaborated with a number of artists including Ken Done and Reg Mombassa, as well as renowned Indigenous artists Jeanette Timbery, Mark Node and Ray Thomas.
The Royal Australian Mint’s kangaroo series is at the core of many numismatic collections ensuring that this 2023 release will be keenly sort after and a converted addition to many collectors.
Struck by Royal Australian Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a mintage of 5,000.
DESIGN
The reverse features a thirtieth anniversary update of the original 1993 kangaroo design by Horst Hahne. It also features the inscription “30TH ANNIVERSARY” as well as the weight, fineness and monetary denomination. The reverse also features a ‘C’ Mintmark to denote Canberra, the place of minting.
The coin’s obverse features the effigy of The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial obverse designed by Jody Clark as well as the 2023 year-date.
PRESENTATION
Each coin comes encapsulated inside of a black Royal Australian Mint box. Coins are packaged inside of a Mob of Thirty themed packaging and is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
