The Royal Australian Mint and Paralympics Australia invites everyone to get excited about the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris from 28 August to 8 September 2024. This exquisite $5 Selectively Gold-Plated Fine Silver Proof Coin is the ultimate Paralympic memorabilia and represents the prestigious honour earned by Australia’s elite Para-athletes representing our country.

Each coin is struck by the Royal Australian Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver and is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Royal Australian Mint will release no more than 2,024 of the 2024 $5 Australian Paralympic Team 1oz .999 Selectively Gold-Plated Silver Proof Coin.

DESIGN

The coin’s design showcases a long jump and track athlete highlighted in selective gold-plated finish. In the background are the track and the Eiffel Tower, representing the fact that some Parisian landmarks will in fact be used as the backdrop for particular events. Also includes the inscriptions “AUSTRALIAN PARALYMPIC TEAM” and “PARIS 2024”.

The coin’s obverse depicts the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, the monetary denomination and the 2024 year-date.

Each coin is presented in capsule displayed inside of a black presentation case accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
