2024 20c Where is the Green Sheep? Coloured Coin in Special Edition Book
The Royal Australian Mint and the Children’s Book Council of Australia have been shining a light on the joy of reading with its Book Week Series since 2021. The fourth release in the series, “Where is the Green Sheep?” written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Judy Horacek, this coloured coin celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2024.
The Book Week Series has previously celebrated Australian children’s books Animalia, Diary of a Wombat and Edward the Emu. The Royal Australian Mint has partnered with the Children’s Book Council of Australia on this program, recognising both the importance of reading in children’s development and the joy shared by readers young and old.
The program is designed to appeal to a broad age range with each book an Australian classic. Parents and grandparents now reading the books to their children and grandchildren may have a sense of nostalgia, remembering the story from their childhood.
Struck by Royal Australian Mint, these coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and have a mintage of 25,000 with a 5,000 issue limit in this special edition book.
