Celebrate the Year of the Dragon with with this stunning 2oz coloured silver coin from The Perth Mint, honouring the 5th animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac.
The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dragon include 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012 with those born under the influence of this sign are said to be confident, enterprising, independent, self-assured, brave and passionate.
Meticulously struck from 99.9% pure silver, the coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
DESIGN
The reverse depicts a red dragon with a representation of a pearl. The colour red represents success, good luck and prosperity. The Chinese character for ‘dragon’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination.
