2026 Koala 1oz Silver Coin
The Royal Australian Mint’s 2026 Koala Series celebrates one of Australia’s most loved and recognisable species worldwide.
Discover the quiet charm of one of Australia’s most iconic native animals with this exquisitely designed uncirculated coin, featuring three koalas in their natural eucalyptus sanctuary. Koalas are known for their gentle nature and tree dwelling lifestyle. They spend most of their lives in eucalyptus trees, feeding on leaves and sleeping in the branches.
Koalas have mastered the art of sleeping and eating. They are often spotted contently munching on gum leaves or fast asleep in the fork of a eucalyptus tree. Although plentiful in some areas, koalas are a vulnerable species in New South Wales, with housing developments and farming leading to their population decline.
Struck by the Royal Australian Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a maximum mintage of 25,000.
DESIGN
The coin’s reverse features three koalas nestled among eucalyptus branches, with eucalyptus leaves forming a pattern in the background, giving a sense of the tree canopy. The reverse also includes the inscriptions “KOALA”.
The obverse of each coin bears the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III sculpted by Daniel Thorne, as well as the monetary denomination and 2026 year-date.
PRESENTATION
Each bullion coin is presented in a protective capsule.
