The Perth Mint is delighted to present the silver proof coin in the Wonders of Australia Series.

Australia’s vast and rugged outback is a land of awe-inspiring natural beauty, steeped in rich history and cultural significance. The continent spans a staggering 7.68 million square kilometres, an area comprising deep canyons, arid desert, lush rainforests, and stunning coastlines. Australia is home to between 600,000 and 700,000 species of wildlife, many of which are found only in Australia, making the Australian outback one of the world’s most precious natural treasures.

Celebrating Australia’s wondrous wildlife species, the coin depicts a dynamic scene from outback Australia.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Wonders of Australia – The Outback 2026 1oz Silver Proof Coin.

DESIGN

The coin’s reverse depicts, clockwise from the right, a dingo stands on a rocky perch. Two emus are positioned in the riverbed, one pausing to drink at the water’s edge. A snake lies coiled on a nearby rock, while a crocodile emerges from the water. Three kangaroos are depicted bounding across the terrain and a wedge-tailed eagle soars in flight above. The background features a rugged mountainous landscape extending across the horizon. The design includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and 2026 year-date.

The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the coin’s weight, fineness and monetary denomination. The outer rim is adorned with illustrations of native Australian flora.

PRESENTATION

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin comes in a FSC accredited timber veneer display case and an illustrated shipper.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint, located in Perth, Western Australia, is one of the oldest and most prestigious mints in the world, with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was established in 1899 as a branch of Britain's Royal Mint in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Western Australia. Its primary purpose was to refine gold mined in the region and to mint gold sovereigns and half sovereigns for use throughout the British Empire.
