2021 Britannia 1oz .9995 Platinum Bullion Coin
Britannia has a longstanding relationship with British coinage. The female embodiment of the nation may have ancient beginnings, first appearing on Roman coins circa AD 119, but she has evolved over time to reflect the nation’s strengths and values. In 1987, this icon was reimagined by sculptor Philip Nathan for a new European bullion coin.
The design has endured ever since, winning awards and building a reputation for beauty, quality and reliability. Struck on this one ounce platinum coin, Philip Nathan’s Britannia is as steadfast and beautiful as ever, standing boldly amongst the waves, surrounded by a background of radial lines. To remind us of her naval connections and peaceful spirit, Britannia holds a trident in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
DESIGN
The reverse side of the coin features an image of Lady Britannia walking at sunrise, with a trident in one hand and an olive branch and shield in the other. Around the outside of the coin are the words ‘Britannia’, followed by the coin’s year of minting. The coin’s weight as well as the purity of .9995 fine is also located on the outside of the coin.
The obverse of each coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II, with the coin’s face value located on the top left, and ‘Elizabeth II’ located on the top right of the coin.
PRESENTATION
Each platinum Britannia is presented in a protective capsule.
