2023 Australian Emu 1oz Gold Bullion Coin
The Perth Mint is excited to release this new 1oz gold bullion coin featuring the Australian Emu.
Standing up to 1.9 metres tall, the emu is Australia’s largest bird. Males are known to protect their young, driving enemies away by kicking their long, powerful legs, which are also used to propel them across the continent’s dry plains at remarkable speeds up to 50 kilometres an hour.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Australian Emu 2023 1oz Gold Bullion Coin.
DESIGN
The coin portrays an adult emu watching over its three young chicks in an arid outback environment. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the 2023 year-date and the coin’s weight and purity are also included in the design.
The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign, and the monetary denomination.
Each coin’s reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
PRESENTATION
The Australian Emu 2023 1oz Gold Bullion Coin is presented in an individual acrylic capsule.
