EMU STANDS TALL IN BULLION LANDSCAPE
The emu is an iconic Australian bird. Second only to the ostrich in size, it stands at up to 1.9 metres in height on long powerful legs which can propel it at speeds nearing 50 kilometres an hour. The emu appears on Australia’s coat of arms along with the kangaroo – reputed to have been chosen because neither willingly takes a backwards step.
Portraying two emus in an outback landscape, this 2020 addition to the Australian Emu Coin Series is struck from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver. The reverse includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN EMU, together with the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and its denomination on the obverse.
This coin has a maximum mintage of 30,000.
AUTHENTICATION FEATURE
The coin has an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design which is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
