2024 HM King Charles III Effigy Proof Six Coin Year Set – AlBr / CuNi
The 2024 Six-Coin Uncirculated Year Set captures a moment in history not witnessed in more than 70 years, as this treasured annual release undergoes a majestic transition to the new effigy of His Majesty, King Charles III by designer Dan Thorne.
Tradition holds that Australian coins bear an effigy of the reigning Monarch on their obverse. Since the introduction of decimal currency in 1966, Australia’s circulating and collectible coins have featured five different effigies of Queen Elizabeth II as the reigning Monarch. With the succession of King Charles the III, Australia’s coins will for the first time bear the effigy of a new sovereign.
Following in the footsteps of the tradition that each successive Monarch face in the opposite direction, the new effigy of King Charles III by Dan Thorne will be looking in a new direction as the sixth effigy to appear on Australia’s decimal currency.
Each coin is struck by Royal Australian Mint and are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
DESIGN
Each of the coin’s reverse features the iconic designs of Australia’s 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 and $2 coins.
The obverse of each coin features the new effigy of King Charles III by designer Daniel Thorne as well as the 2024 year-date.
PRESENTATION
Each coins comes encapsulated and fit in a black Royal Australian Mint display box which are housed in blue regal, King Charles III themed shippers. Each set is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
