Swan Bullion’s Next Security Upgrade: Passkeys Are Coming Soon
At Swan Bullion, security is not a one-time feature. It is an ongoing commitment to protecting our customers, their accounts, and their personal information.
Recently, we announced the upcoming rollout of Two-Factor Authentication, or 2FA, across user accounts as part of our continued investment in safer online account access. That improvement adds an important second layer of protection by requiring more than just a password to access an account. The goal is simple: make it much harder for anyone other than you to sign in, even if your password is ever compromised.
Now, we are preparing for the next step in account security: passkeys.
Passkeys are a modern, easier, and more secure way to sign in. Instead of relying on a password that can be forgotten, reused, guessed, leaked, or stolen through phishing, passkeys use secure cryptographic technology linked to your device. In everyday terms, this means you can sign in using the same familiar method you already use to unlock your phone, tablet, or computer, such as your fingerprint, face scan, device PIN, or screen lock.
Why passkeys are the next step
Passwords have been part of online accounts for decades, but they come with well-known problems. People often reuse passwords across multiple websites, write them down, save them in insecure places, or choose passwords that are easy to remember but also easier to guess. Even strong passwords can be exposed through data breaches or phishing attempts.
Passkeys help solve many of these issues.
A passkey is unique to the website or app it is created for, which means it cannot be reused across different services in the same way a password can. It is also designed to be resistant to phishing because there is no password for a customer to accidentally type into a fake website or share with someone pretending to be support. The FIDO Alliance describes passkeys as replacing passwords with cryptographic key pairs for phishing-resistant sign-in and a better user experience.
Easier for customers
One of the biggest benefits of passkeys is that stronger security does not have to mean a harder login process.
With passkeys, customers do not need to remember another complicated password or manually enter a one-time code every time they sign in. Instead, logging in can be as simple as approving the sign-in with your fingerprint, face scan, PIN, or device unlock method. Google describes passkeys as a simpler and faster way to sign in because users do not need to remember or type passwords.
That means fewer forgotten passwords, fewer password reset requests, and less friction when accessing your Swan Bullion account.
Better protection against phishing and account takeovers
Phishing remains one of the most common ways online accounts are compromised. A customer may receive a convincing email or message that looks legitimate, click a fake login page, and unknowingly enter their password. Once a password is stolen, it can potentially be used by someone else.
Passkeys are designed differently. Because they use secure cryptographic authentication, the private part of the passkey stays protected on your device and is not typed, sent, or shared like a password. This makes passkeys much harder for attackers to steal or reuse. The UK National Cyber Security Centre notes that passkeys are more secure because they are resistant to phishing and cannot be intercepted, reused, or stolen like passwords.
For customers, this means a safer sign-in experience with less reliance on passwords alone.
A smooth upgrade from 2FA
Our 2FA rollout is an important milestone. It strengthens account protection by adding another verification step and helps reduce the risk of unauthorised access. Swan Bullion has spent significant time developing, testing, and refining 2FA to make sure it works smoothly with the existing login experience.
Passkeys build on that same security-first approach. They are part of the next generation of authentication: secure, simple, and designed around how people already use their devices every day.
Rather than asking customers to do more work, passkeys aim to make secure login easier.
A free upgrade, coming soon
The upcoming passkey rollout will be a free security upgrade for Swan Bullion customers.
There will be no charge to use passkeys when they become available. As with our 2FA rollout, we will provide clear instructions and support so customers know what to expect and how to get started.
Our aim is to make this transition simple, practical, and worthwhile for every customer. Whether you are buying bullion, managing your account, checking orders, or communicating with our team, stronger account security helps protect what matters.
Security is always evolving
Cyber threats continue to change, and account security must keep improving with them. 2FA is a major step forward, and passkeys represent the next stage in making Swan Bullion accounts even safer and easier to access.
By introducing passkeys, we are continuing to invest in modern protection that benefits our customers without adding unnecessary complexity.
Passkeys are coming soon to Swan Bullion as a free upgrade — giving customers a simpler, faster, and more secure way to sign in.
