2021 The Gangsters – Al Capone 2oz .999 Silver Ultra High Relief Antiqued Coin

This incredible high relief silver coin is the first in a new four coin series – “The Gangsters” – featuring famous gangsters of history. Alphonse Gabriel Capone or Al Capone, sometimes known by the nickname “Scarface” was an American gangster and businessman who attained notoriety during the Prohibition era as the co-founder and boss of the Chicago Outfit. His seven-year reign as a crime boss ended when he went to prison at the age of 33.

DESIGN

The reverse of the coin depicts Al Capone, hand in pocket in his iconic pin-striped suit and fedora, smoking a cigar with his revolver holstered by his side. Al Capone’s notorious bulletproof 1928 Cadillac V8 Town Car can be seen creeping in from the left with three of his henchman – one wielding the infamous Thompson submachine gun – carrying out the bootlegging operation, loading barrels of alcohol onto a truck. There is a bullet hole in the bottom right and finally the inscription “AL CAPONE” at the top of the coin.

The obverse of the coin features the cylinder of an 8 shot 9mm revolver. Four bullets can be seen loaded into the cylinder with each one being denoted by a gilded casing with 9mm stamped into the back. The bullet hole also doubles as an open chamber in the cylinder on the obverse. The obverse also includes the public Seal of Niue with the 5 dollar monetary denomination and 2021 year-date.

Each coin has the individualised serial number laser inscribed onto the edge of the coin.

PRESENTATION

Each coin is provided in a capsule inside of a luxurious wooden box designed to fit all 4 coins in the series. Wood shavings are included inside the wooden box to emulate that prohibition period. Each coin is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
