2022 Chinese Gold Panda 30g .999 Gold Bullion Coin – 40th Anniversary
The Chinese Mint is celebrating a landmark date in its Chinese Panda Series in 2022. This date marks the 40th anniversary of the first coins issued in this series. The Gold Pandas debuted in 1982 with four weights available. While the silver coin debuted later, it will also feature the special 40th-anniversary mark on its obverse field in 2022 to honour the occasion.
The People’s Republic of China issues and guarantees the quality of each Gold Panda coin. Gold Panda coins are minted from several mints each year. Those mints include but are not limited to Shenzhen, Shanghai and Shenyang. Unlike the U.S. Mint, these Chinese Mints do not incorporate mintmarks to distinguish the difference between each mint. Instead, these mints are known for having minor differences in the design of the coin such as font size, bamboo length and designs of the temple in certain year’s mintages.
DESIGN
The obverse design shows one panda going headfirst down the hill with its front legs out as it slides on its stomach. The other panda is shown on its back with both its front and back legs up in the air. The 40th-anniversary mark on this side consists of the digits 40 with a panda in the 0. The weight, purity and monetary denomination is also shown on the obverse.
The reverse side of each coin depicts the familiar Chinese Temple of Heaven along with the inscription for People’s Republic of China spelled out in Chinese characters as well as the 2022 year date of the coin.
