2024 Change of Monarch Silver Proof Six Coin Set
Australian coins are undergoing a transformation not seen for 70 years. The effigy on her Late Majesty Queen Elizbeth II is being replaced by an effigy of His Majesty King Charles III on the obverse of Australian coins. The Royal Australian Mint commemorates this historic numismatic turning point with this exquisite and historic 2024 Six-Coin Fine Silver Proof Year Set – Change of Monarch.
Tradition holds that Australian legal tender coins bear the effigy of the Monarch on their obverse. A tradition that these six coins pay homage to as we commemorate the change of Monarch.
This Royal Australian Mint set commemorates this historic numismatic turning point by presenting past and present Royal effigies on the obverses of each coin. Together they honour the historic reign of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and celebrate our new Monarch, His Majesty King Charles III.
Each coin is struck by Royal Australian Mint from fine proof silver and are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 with a maximum mintage of 2,024.
DESIGN
Each of the coin’s reverse features the iconic designs of Australia’s 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 and $2 coins.
The obverse features portraits of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick, Arnold Machin, Raphael Maklouf, Ian Rank-Broadley and Jody Clark appear on five of the coins while the new effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Daniel Thorne appears on the sixth. In keeping with tradition the new portrait of The King will face left, the opposite direction from the effigies of his mother.
PRESENTATION
These coins come individually encapsulated and are presented in an exquisite Royal Australian Mint themed wooden box. Comes with a white Change of Monarch sleeve.
