2022 Jingle Bell Christmas 2oz .9999 Silver Antiqued Coloured Coin
This stunning Christmas themed coin features a 24-carat gold-plated tinkling jingle bell. Traditionally, small jingle bells were attached to horses as adornments. More practically, they provided advanced warning to pedestrians, especially in winter when horse-drawn sleighs could be difficult to hear or bring to a halt.
In popular culture, the sound of jingle bells (also known as sleigh bells) is associated with the approach of Santa Clause in a reindeer-drawn sleigh on Christmas Eve.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,500 of the Jingle Bell 2022 2oz Silver Antiqued Coloured Coin.
DESIGN
The coin portrays a Christmas wreath comprising a ribbon, mistletoe, ferns, fir cones and star anise. Additional elements include gold coloured decorative baubles, candy canes and Christmas berries. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark is also included in the design. Encased in the coin’s centre is a 24-carat gold-plated jingle bell.
The obverse portrays the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a decorative ribbon, and the coin’s weight, purity, denomination and year-date.
Elements of this coin have been individually ‘antiqued’ to give them a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment, the appearance of each coin in the mintage may vary.
PRESENTATION
The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid. Packaged in a Christmas gift box with a bow, each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
